The schedule below outlines the various activities and offerings that are included on this retreat. The sequence of these events will be created to support the flow and delivery of the offerings.
Most of you will arrive at Occidental Papagayo on the first day of the retreat. You’ll have a chance to settle in, swim in the pool, play in the ocean and soak up the beauty of your environment before you indulge in a delectable dinner. Before dinner, we’ll have a general introduction to the retreat and an opportunity for participants to begin to get acquainted with each other.
Each morning you may choose to join a Meditation and Yoga session and/or you may take an early morning walk on the beach before having a delicious breakfast.
GENERAL SCHEDULE
The sun-rises in this area are vibrant and as the ocean and land critters awaken you can feel the energy of life all around you.
Below is the general schedule for the entire week. You will have lots of time to learn amazing and practical information from Barry and Donese that you can use to empower and enrich your life as well as ample time for exciting adventures, playful activities, sharing time with others and time to relax and absorb the beauty of this splendid tropical paradise. Keep in mind that some things may change to support the overall development of participants.
This schedule is flexible and may change. Each evening the specific schedule for the following day will be posted. This allows us to focus on what the group needs and supports the growth of individuals.
Sunday – Arrivals & Welcome Dinner
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – On each of these days, the following activities will be offered:
- Optional morning Yoga
- A variety of presentations, interactions, discussions and activities offered by Barry and Donese
- Personal time to rest, relax and enjoy the beach, play in the warm waves, hike the coastline, swimm and sun at the pool, visit nearby villages, and simply enjoy this tropical paradise.
During one of these days we will also visit and do an activity at the La Senda Labyrinth. See below for details of this amazing Sacred Geometry site.
Wednesday: This is an open day for you to choose a variety of activities. At your own cost you may choose to go on an adventure experience. Some of your options are shown below. You may also choose to stay at the resort and enjoy the opportunities available.

LA SENDA LABYRINTH
When the expert in energy work Sergio Salas discovered several energy points on the property, it was unclear for us what we were going to do with them. It was Sergio himself who suggested building a labyrinth around the two opposite charged centers found in the middle of the forest. La Senda’s house was already built on top of one energy vortex.
All the information and the details of the labyrinth were led by Sergio over some time; the position of the entrance in the North, and the exit in the South, the fact that all turns had to take place in the central part of the labyrinth, there had to be 14 layers (two times seven = two complete musical scales), and it had to be built out of cactus to attract Prana (Life Force), according to the knowledge from local indigenous tribes.
As the biggest in the world, the labyrinth measures above 2.5 acres (over 1 hectare) and the path is almost 2 miles (3km) long. It took 6 years to develop and now is fully planted with over 5.000 cactus. All sentient beings, like humans, animals, and plants in La Senda constantly live under the upbeat influence of this big pulsing heart of energy.

BUENA VISTA CANOPY & NATURAL SPA TOUR
Enjoy a full day of adventures!!! We will pick you up at Sugar Beach Resort and drive you to your destination, which is about 1 3/4 hours away. Once there, you will follow the trails that will take you to the top of the trees. The tree top canopy has twelve platforms and ten zip lines that range from 150 to 400 feet in length…really thrilling and safe rides!
Cool off on the 1500 ft. long water slide. Enjoy a refreshing journey as you go down this slide with an inner-tube…a great way to invigorate yourself and have fun!
And then, horseback riding to the thermal waters, steam bath and natural spa, located at the foot of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
This is a very active and full day and a wonderful way to experience some of Costa Rica’s adventures
Duration: Full day!! Starts: 7:30 am – 6 pm Approx.
Wear: Tennis shoes, shirt and shorts.
Bring: Camera, binoculars, swimsuit, long pants, sunscreen, insect repellent and a change of clothes.
Included: Air-conditioned, round trip transportation, English speaking guide and LUNCH.
CAÑON DE LA VIEJA ADVENTURE
Enjoy a day of adventure!!! We will pick you up at Sugar Beach resort and drive for about 1 1/2 hours to our destination. You will follow the trails that take you to the top of the trees. The tree top canopy has twelve platforms and nine zip lines and also you may choose to Rappel and Rock Climb.
After you finish “zipping” you will go horseback riding to a river where you will then start the Tubing part of the day. After the experience on the river, we will offer you lunch, and for last part of the tour you will be at the hot springs where you can take a mud bath at the foot of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
Duration: Full day!! Starts: 7:30 am – 4pm Approx.
Wear: Tennis shoes, T shirt and shorts.
Bring: Camera, binoculars, swimsuit, long pants, sunscreen, insect repellent and change of clothes.
Included: Air-conditioned, round trip transportation, English speaking guide and LUNCH.
PALO VERDE NATIONAL PARK TOUR ( TEMPISQUE RIVER)
This is a perfect journey for wildlife lovers!!! Come and visit Palo Verde, one of the most important and interesting National Parks in Costa Rica.
You will experience 12 different habitats within the park including: mangroves, swamps, swamps forests, saltwater and freshwater lagoons and marshes.
Enjoy a two hour boat ride on the Tempisque River watching: the fabulous array of wild birds, a myriad of creatures such as howler and whiteface monkeys, green iguanas, coatis, anteaters and crocodiles.
Duration: Full Day!! 7 hours
Wear: Tennis shoes or sandals, shorts and T shirt.
Bring: Camera, binoculars, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat or cap.
Included: Air-conditioned, round trip transportation, English speaking guide, LUNCH.
TENORIO RIVER RAFTIN
If you are prepared for a huge adventure, you are surely ready for this!!!! The Tenorio River will test your courage with its class III and IV rapids. If yku have rafting experience, this trip is a must. It offers challenges as you plunge through twists, turns and drops down 10 miles of intense, challenging rapids. All participants must be in a good physical condition. This is a purely magical trip, full of unsurpassed beauty and stunning wildlife scenery that will take your breath away. (No experience necessary.)
Duration:Full day!! FROM 7:00 am – 4 pm Approx.
Wear: Cool comfortable clothes (swimsuit), Strap on sandals or water shoes.
Bring: Camera, sunscreen and insect repellent.
Included: Air-conditioned, round trip transportation, English speaking guide, LUNCH.
THE CONGO TRAIL CANOPY TOUR (Canopy Artola)
This canopy tour is located in a little town named Artola which is very close to several beaches.
You will enjoy your day flying down several suspended cables and experience a walk bridge between two platforms…this is a truly exhilarating and exciting experience. If we are lucky even the Howler Monkeys will be our company during a part of the canopy tour.
Duration: Half day!! FROM 8:30 am – 1 pm
Wear: Hiking or tennis shoes, knee shorts or pants, T shirt and a cap.
Bring: Binoculars, camera, sunscreen and insect repellent.
Included: Air-conditioned, round trip transportation, English speaking guide.

TAMARINDO MANGROVE & ESTUARY BOAT TOUR
On this adventure, you will visit the Tamarindo Wildlife Refuge which protects a large estuary, mangrove forest and tropical dry forest in an area covering almost 500 hectares.
On this journey we will pick you up at Sugar Beach Resort and drive for about 45 minutes. You will then board a small boat that takes you to the narrow canals as you observe various plants, trees and animals. You may be able to see rare and abundant wildlife, including dozens of bird species and two species of monkeys while learning about the unique ecosystem of the mangrove forest.
Duration: Half day!! Starts: Depends on the tide…check with us
Wear: Cool comfortable clothes, beach sandals and hat.
Bring: Binoculars, camera, sunscreen and insect repellent.
