Getting to Occidental Tamarindo Hotel
The Occidental Tamarindo Hotel is located on Playa Langosta in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica, also known as the Gold Coast. From the Liberia International airport it is approx. 50 miles.
Once the dates are confirmed, kindly do the following:
Please make flight arrangements to arrive at the Liberia airport (LIR) between noon and 3 pm on ________ and depart after 1 pm on_______. We will have a shuttle pick you up at the Liberia airport and at the conclusion of the retreat, we will get you back to the Liberia airport. Within these time frames the shuttle is included as part of your cost. If you arrive and/or depart at a different time, we are happy to arrange transportation for you at an additional cost.
The travel time between the airport and Hotel Occidental Tamarindo is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
If you decide to rent a car, (though you will not be needing a car during the retreat) here are the directions to Occidental Tamarindo Hotel.
Driving directions from Liberia to Occidental Tamarindo Hotel: When you exit the airport service road, take a right and go 29 km to Belen intersection. At the Belen intersection, take a right following signs to Las Catalinas, Flamingo, Melia Conchal. Follow this road for 26 km and you will see a sign for Tamarindo. Turn left, go through the town of Tamarindo and approximately 2 kilometers from the center of town, you will arrive at the hotel.

COVID INFORMATION
At all times it is required that you have a valid passport to enter Costa Rica. Arriving from the U.S. a visa is not required. If you are arriving from another country, check with your consulate to see if you need a visa or not.
As of July, 2021, the following is required to enter:
Completing the HEALTH PASS online form available at https://salud.go.cr
The Health Pass can only be completed within the 48 hours prior to departure. It must be accessed on up-to-date browsers, with the exception of Internet Explorer. One form must be completed per person, including minors, without exception.
Acquiring medical insurance
Tourists must acquire mandatory travel insurance that covers lodging in the event of quarantine as well as medical expenses due to contracting COVID-19. IMPORTANT…If you have proof of being fully vaccinated, this insurance is not required.
Regarding returns into the U.S. At this time it is required that you have a negative Covid test within 3 days of travel time. Test labs are operating at the Liberia airport offering rapid test results withiin an hour. Check with your home country.
The Costa Rican government requires all travelers arriving into Costa Rica to have specific travel insurance in the event of any Covid related issues. So please consider this when you purchase your travel insurance.
In addition, as of now, we require that each participant has proof of one of the following:
- being fully vaccinated
- a test showing you have antibodies against Covid
- a negative Covid test within 3 days prior to arrival at Santarena Hotel.
