La Cusinga is located on the south western coast of Costa Rica near a small town called Uvita. From San Jose it is approximately a 4 hour drive by small bus going through several delightful mountain villages, driving through San Isidro del General, then towards Dominical and following the coastal road about 25 kilometers south of Dominical. ( see map below) You will leave the San Jose area, Alajuela, around 8 am on June 5 and travel by a mini air conditioned bus. The route will take you over the higheast point in Costa Rica as you go through cloud forests and through several charming villages. We will stop along the way to have lunch at a family run restaurant with a gorgeous vista. You will arrive at your destination, La Cusinga, around 3 pm. On the way back at the end of the retreat we will take the coastal road to get you back to San Jose.
Once you are in San Jose you’ll check in to your beautiful hotel, we’ll spend the rest of the day exploring the city and we’ll have our final dinner together. The next day after breakfast we’ll get you to the airport for your flight home.
Here is some important information for your travel:
- We will book your travel through Frontier Airlines, if at all possible. They have a convenient direct flight from Denver. They post their flight schedule six moths out, so we will know the details sometime in December. Last year the flights were around $550 round trip.
- The Frontier flight usually leaves around midnight and arrives in San Jose around 6:30 am, this would be on June 5, 2015
- Your return flight will be probably in the morning or early afternoon on June 12.
- If we have at least 8 students who would like to extend their stay and explore other areas of Costa Rica, we will make those arrangements.
