Views from Ocean-View Group Rooms
Ocean-View Group Rooms
There are two separate large group rooms that are available for your comfort. Each has access to a veranda that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The rooms are on the second level of the meeting area and afford a fantastic view of the coastline and distant beaches. Each room has 10 bunk-beds and each has a private bathroom and shower. There are two additional bathrooms and showers on the first level that are accessible.
Because the outdoor setting is so pleasant, most people spend little time in their rooms and this configuration works well for most guests. If you would prefer a separate living space, there are a few wonderful ones available. See below for information on these separate cabinas.
Cabinas
(All cabinas have an ocean view)
Individual Cabinas are available if you prefer to have separate accommodations. Each cabina has an ocean view, a beautiful stone-wall bathroom and shower, a veranda, a comfortable bedroom, a ceiling fan, a safety box and is located in a splendid setting. The cost for a private cabina is $175 per person double or triple occupancy for the entire week.
Three delicious, healthy meals are included each day during the retreat. Much of the food comes from the organic gardens at the center. Fresh and healthy combinations are prepared to entice your taste buds as well as treat your body to wholesome, scrumptious, mouth-watering meals. Freshly squeezed juices are available throughout the day.
"I loved the meals, this was one of my favorite parts of the trip" and "The food was fabulous, every meal was a delight", are often repeated comments. The cooks at the center lovingly prepare a variety of appetizing and wholesome food and the dining area has inspiring views. Special diets and particular requests are caringly honored.
There are six guest cabins which have a panoramic view of the Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge protected rainforest up on the ridge and are located within a short walk from the 3 kilometers of beach that belong to the Wildlife Refuge as well.
Each cabin has two rooms, one with one double bed and another with a double and a single bed. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchenette with refrigerator, a double burner heating pad and small sink. All the dishes, utensils and dish towels that you will need are provided.
There is also a living room area where, if you like, an additional bed can be added. The bathroom has a hot-water shower. There are fans throughout the cabin and a safe for guests to store valuables. Your front porch is a great place for early morning and afternoon reading, bird watching and relaxing.
In addition, there are also 6 Superior rooms. Each unit has a king size bed and a single bed (bedding configuration can be changed according to guests’ needs), a large bathroom with hot water shower and a safe.
The front porch is a great place for early morning and afternoon reading, bird watching and it looks right into the pool. The attractive tile roofing is actually made from recycled plastic bags. A well ventilated design, insulation between the roofing and the polished teak ceiling, and overhead fans all insure cool comfort for our guests. Not a single piece of the wood used came from a natural forest.
All of the teak and gemelina wood used in the construction came from Hacienda Barú's own plantations. The wood for the pine beams and furniture all came from plantations as well. Solar heaters provide plenty of hot water for the bathrooms and showers.
The lodge is within the Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge, with a view of the forest behind, across and up on the mountain side. Three kilometers of beach and the Pacific Ocean are just a short walk from the front door. There are two types of cabins available and all of them have access to a swimming pool which is right across from the rooms. The pool at Hacienda Baru lodge works with an Ozone Purification System and uses only 1/10 of the amount of chlorine that a regular pool would use. Guests will certainly enjoying a cool dip after hiking in the jungle or a run on the beach.
The Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge is a private nature reserve with 830 acres of protected area including primary, secondary and selectively logged tropical wet forest, swamp forest, mangrove estuary, secondary growth, brush land, river bank and seashore. In addition there are areas of silviculture (tree farming) with many different species of commercially viable timber, fruit orchards and pasture. This wide spectrum of habitats supports an equally large variety of wildlife. The reserve receives income with which to maintain and protect its natural treasure from only two sources, ecotourism and silviculture.
Hacienda Barú is located in the southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica bordering the mouth of the Barú river at the point where it empties into the ocean. It has 2780 meters of beach frontage and 1 kilometer of river bank. The small town of Dominical, a tourist center, is located just across the river from the refuge.
Hacienda Barú’s primary mission is to preserve its natural resources and educate visitors about its biological wealth. To support this goal, Hacienda Barú provides ecologically-oriented tours, adventures and tourist services. In carrying out this mission, Hacienda Barú will support scientific research and promote responsible community development.
